todrawn
free tool

Turn code into a hand-drawn video.

Paste code or plain text, watch the Todrawn pen write it out on a whiteboard, and download the animation as a video for your shorts, docs or slides.

How it works

1. Paste

Drop in code or plain text, or upload a file.

2. Watch

A hand-drawn pen writes it line by line on a whiteboard, with sketch-style highlighting for code.

3. Download

Export the animation as a 1080p video, vertical or wide. Everything runs in your browser.

What is this?

This is a free tool by Todrawn that turns code or plain text into a whiteboard animation: a virtual pen writes your snippet in a hand-drawn font, stroke by stroke, and you can save the result as an MP4 or WebM video. It is handy for shorts and reels, tutorials, slides and docs. Nothing is uploaded: composing, playback and video encoding all happen in your browser.

Questions

Is it really free?

Yes. The tool is free and needs no account. Todrawn makes money from its collaborative whiteboard plans, and this page is our way of showing off the pen.

Does my code leave my computer?

No. The animation and the video are generated entirely in your browser; nothing is uploaded to a server.

What video formats do I get?

MP4 in browsers with WebCodecs support, WebM otherwise. 1080p at 30 fps, vertical 9:16 or wide 16:9.

Why is there a small todrawn.com mark?

The exported video carries a small hand-drawn todrawn.com wordmark in the corner. It is how this free tool pays for itself; the preview stays clean.
